Better Connections: How a Little More Networking Became a Bigger Blessing

A couple of months ago, the Home School Foundation (HSF) shared the story of the Rowe family in Nebraska and their teenaged daughter's special learning needs. We have a happy update to the story!

Madison Rowe was falling behind in her school work because her medical condition and prescribed medications made it difficult for her to hold a pencil or write.

The fatigue she experienced in her hand was not just painful—it was frustrating. A computer was the perfect solution since Madison could effectively manipulate a mouse and keyboard, but the Rowes could not afford one for her.

When Kathryn Dillow, HSF State Ambassador for Nebraska and friend of the Rowes, heard about their need, she connected the family with her growing network to further bless Madison and her family.

Dillow reached out to Schrock Innovations, a local computer company. Thor Schrock, owner of the company, is a homeschool father who understands how a computer can benefit a child with special learning needs. He immediately responded to Dillow's request and generously donated a new laptop with a wireless keyboard and mouse to Madison on April 12. "The wireless accessories will allow Madison to study where she is most comfortable," explained Mr. Schrock.

“Even though computing is Mr. Schrock’s business, his heart for homeschooling and helping those with special needs is what prompted this generous donation,” said Ambassador Dillow. “Thank you for helping us!”
