Indiana Ambassador Shares HSF at Government Charity Fairs

Debi Ketron, HSF’s State Ambassador for Indiana, enjoys being HSF’s face at workplace giving events and recently attended two government charity fairs as an HSF representative. At these events, sponsored by the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), federal employees meet charity representatives and learn about the charities' missions. This helps employees decide which charites they want to support and subsequently designate a weekly or monthly payroll deduction donation to those charities using the charities' CFC numbers.

Putting a friendly, informed face with a charity is a great way to leave a positive, lasting impact on these employees. As enthusiastic supporters of homeschooling, HSF Ambassadors fit this bill well. Ambassadors set up a table with HSF brochures, the famous HSF “apple” pens, and small giveaway items like HSF bookmarks imprinted with Scripture. From here, Ambassadors greet employees walking through the fair.

Being selected to attend a CFC event is no easy thing for a charity. The CFC arranges charity fairs in government facilities such as post offices, VA hospitals, federal offices, and military bases and sends out hundreds of notices during the campaign season (September 1 – December 31). Only a very small number of the thousands of CFC recognized charities are selected to attend. HSF was invited to attend not one, but two fairs in the Indianapolis area. Ambassador Ketron gives generously of her time and energy to attend these events whenever HSF is selected.

“In August, I attended the CFC event at Camp Belzer and was able to speak to most of the employees in attendance, explaining how HSF helps military families. The events supervisor in this area is a homeschool dad, and he is very supportive,” says Ambassador Ketron. “I also attended the CFC Indianapolis event at the Major General Emmett Bean Federal Building in September. HSF was one of 25 charities represented. I spoke to around 100 individuals and, overall, the comments about homeschooling were positive and people wanted to learn more.”

Workplace payroll deduction donations represent an important portion of HSF’s financial support. We say “Thank you and God bless you!” to the very capable ambassadors who volunteer to represent HSF at these events and to the generous federal employees who support HSF through the Combined Federal Campaign.

The Home School Foundation’s CFC # is 10535. If you are a government employee, we encourage you to support HSF through the Combined Federal Campaign using this number.
