Apply to the Special Needs Children's Fund

Do I Qualify?

Scholarships are granted on the basis of financial need and the availability of funds. Also please note that to be eligible for this fund you are required to have been homeschooling and an HSLDA member for at least 6 months and you can only apply for funding every 24 months.

Please note: if you are a widow with special needs children, please contact our offices before downloading and filling out the application.

When Can I Apply?

The Special Needs Children's Fund is open for enrollment in February and August each year. You can submit your grant application for this fund starting a month prior to enrollment and during the enrollment month (Jan 1-Feb 28 and July 1-Aug 30).

Be sure you have read the description of this fund to understand what it offers. 

How Do I Apply?

First time applicants should contact us to be screened for eligibility. Re-applicants may download the application or contact us to have one sent by mail.

Please email your completed application and all required documentation (as listed on the application) to applications@homeschoolfoundation.org. (If you cannot email your application to us, please see the instructions at the bottom of this page on how to mail it to us.)

To complete the application electronically:

  • Non-members: Click here to join HSLDA. You may apply to the Special Needs Children’s Fund once you have been a member for 6 months.
  • Read the application directions and provide complete information for each field of the application
  • Save a copy of the completed application to your computer for your record
  • Submit the completed application and all required documentation to the Home School Foundation by email at applications@homeschoolfoundation.org. We encourage you to submit all paperwork at the same time.

Please pay careful attention to the following:

  • DO submit your application and required documentation in no more than four attachments. If your application is more 4 email attachments, please just print all your documentation and mail it instead to the address below
  • DO NOT submit photographs – this is not acceptable documentation
  • DO submit your documents in .PDF or .DOC (or any Word document) formats or scans in .JPG or .GIF formats
  • DO NOT send us download links or zip files
  • DO NOT change the application format
  • DO submit your application using one method – mail or email

If you are unable to complete the paperwork electronically or have any difficulty with any of the DOs and DON’Ts listed above, please print out the application and submit it by mail to:
