HSF Awards College Scholarships
This summer, the Foundation awarded scholarships to ten incoming freshman at Patrick Henry College (PHC). The scholarships, funded through HSF’s PHC Scholarship Fund, are offered annually to graduates whose families are members of the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA).
Since 2003, more than 50 PHC students have received scholarships from HSF, easing the financial burden of college expenses. “Your scholarship is allowing me to attend my dream school,” wrote Oree Wyatt in response to his scholarship this year.
To welcome these exemplary students, the Foundation hosted a small reception during freshman orientation. HSLDA President Mike Smith and HSF Executive Director, Chuck Hurst honored the students for their academic excellence.
“One thing that stood out to me [about these students] was their eagerness to express their gratefulness. True, gratefulness has nothing to do with intelligence or aptitude, yet I will not be surprised if this attitude serves as an indicator of their future success, both at PHC and throughout their lives,” Hurst remarked afterwards.
For details on how a student you know might qualify for a PHC scholarship through the Foundation, please review the application criteria.
If you wish to assist future homeschooled scholars achieve their dreams of attending PHC, please consider giving to the Fund.
As one recipient stated in her scholarship application essay, “It has been incredible to watch [God] orchestrate my steps thus far, and I cannot wait to see where He takes me next.” Please rejoice with us as these students embark on their college journeys!
