Story Behind the PHC Scholarship Fund

In 2001, the Home School Foundation had the opportunity to grant scholarships to several Patrick Henry College students who were in need of financial assistance. Witnessing the blessing that these scholarships proved to be and further desiring to support HSLDA member students attending Patrick Henry College, the Home School Foundation decided to create a PHC Scholarship Fund for HSLDA Members.

Who is Patrick Henry College?

Patrick Henry College (PHC), located in Purcellville, Virginia, aspires to equip Christian young people with the character and skills essential for being influential leaders in our government and culture. Specifically appealing to homeschoolers, PHC offers challenging academic programs accompanied by a unique apprenticeship methodology. The leaders of PHC are committed to providing an environment where students from all different backgrounds will be spiritually encouraged and stretched by their instructors as well as their peers. PHC provides its students with an enriching educational experience that prepares them for challenges they may face on the job or in their personal lives.

Like most students, those who attend PHC face the challenge of funding their college education. However, unlike other college students, PHC students do not take federal student loans.

How the Funds are Dispersed?

Last year, the Foundation gave a select number of freshmen scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $1,500. These students are those who have shown outstanding academic achievement, exceptional community service, and are in need of financial assistance.

How to Apply for a Scholarship?

If you are going to be attending Patrick Henry as a freshman student in the fall of 2008, are part of an HSLDA member family, have a high school record of outstanding academic achievement and community service, and need financial assistance, you are eligible to apply for the scholarship. For more information call the Foundation at (540) 338-8688 or go to our on-line application.

How to Donate to the Fund?

This Fund is an excellent way for the Foundation to continue its mission of supporting homeschool families and like-minded organizations. If you are interested in supporting the mission of Patrick Henry College, and want to provide students with PHC scholarships, call the Foundation at (540) 338-8688 or make a donation today.

Testimonies

Being Where God Wants You

"I would like to express my gratitude for the PHC scholarship your organization awarded me. Deciding to attend PHC took a leap of faith because of the financial situation. However, when I found out I had received a scholarship from the Home School Foundation, I was sure the Lord was providing for me. He has continually shown me I am where He wants me to be, and He has used the scholarship to tremendously bless me and my family."

Answered Prayers

"I knew God wanted me to attend Patrick Henry College this fall, so I have been praying that He would provide the necessary funds. This scholarship from your foundation is an answer to that prayer. Now, paying for my freshman year looks possible. I am looking forward to attending PHC this fall and preparing to be a Godly influence in the political world."

- Daniel W. Turner
