FUNDS: International Homeschooling Fund
Mission
The International Homeschooling Fund promotes homeschooling internationally by providing financial assistance to homeschooling families and organizations in other nations.
Story
In 1991, Home School Legal Defense Association joined with first–generation Canadian homeschoolers to establish HSLDA of Canada. Families there faced the same challenges Americans experienced ten years earlier when our laws and government were largely opposed to homeschooling. Over time, the Canadian branch grew, prospered, and became totally independent.
Soon after HSLDA of Canada was established, HSLDA assisted new homeschool leaders in Mexico with translating curriculum into Spanish and sponsoring homeschool conferences. Meanwhile, countries like Japan and Germany needed help in securing homeschool freedoms. HSLDA could relate to the arrests and govermental intimidation these parents were facing because Americans experienced these challenges in the early years of homeschooling in our own country.
Today, HSLDA has established a working relationship with homeschool organizations in over 37 countries, joining with parents across the globe in their struggle to secure their right to direct the upbringing and education of their children.
