Story Behind the Generation Joshua Fund

We live in troubled times. All around us, culture is in decay. But in all of this darkness, there is still light. America has a rich heritage. Its founders believed in truth and principle, liberty and freedom. Fortunately, there remains a remnant in America that still believes that there are self-evident truths, that "all men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." Many in this remnant have chosen to teach their children at home, to take them beyond the reach of "pharaoh" and to teach them truth. We often refer to these homeschooling parents as the Moses Generation and their children, accordingly, the Joshua Generation.

We know that ultimately, America's future is in the hands of the Lord. But we also know that we have a stewardship over the opportunities and resources we have been given. As we contemplate how to best secure the future of liberty in America, it is clear that we must begin with knowledge. We believe that one way to do this is to help the Joshua generation to see their place in America and to catch the vision of what America can be.

To take the land, the Joshua Generation needs a solid understanding of the proper role of civil government, the church, and the family. Along these lines, the Home School Legal Defense Association administers a program called Generation Joshua. Through Generation Joshua, HSLDA is focusing homeschooled youth on basic American civics taught from an old perspective: the U.S. constitution as interpreted in the light of the original intent of the founders.

In order to support the educational aspects of this HSLDA outreach, the Home School Foundation has established its sixth and newest fund - the Generation Joshua Fund.*

*HSF, as a tax exempt 501(c)3 organization under federal law, may only support the educational aspects of HSLDA's Generation Joshua program. No HSF resources are utilized in any other aspect of HSLDA's Generation Joshua program.
