FUNDS: Compassion Fund Mission The Compassion Fund provides assistance to homeschooling families in need, awards grants to homeschooling groups, and supports the operations of the Foundation. Who Does It Help? All undesignated gifts to the Home School Foundation go to our Compassion Fund. Monies in this fund are used to cover the Foundation’s printing costs, give grants to local homeschool support groups around the country, and support other homeschooling-related causes. Through the Emergency Response arm of this fund, the Home School Foundation is poised to respond to the urgent needs of homechooling families involved in natural disasters, house fires, and similar emergencies. Group Grants Additionally, this fund makes grants available to HSLDA discount groups with 10 or more HSLDA member families. These grants are awarded to assist with projects that benefit the homeschool community and like-minded organizations that advance homeschooling. Below are some of the organizations that the Foundation has awarded grants to through this fund: The Lifework Forum: An organization that presents patterns for living to both religious and secular audiences throughout the globe. National Alliance of Home Education Leadership: A national alliance dedicated to support Christian state home education leaders. CLASS Homeschools: A national organization which helps new homeschoolers start homeschooling by directing families to curriculum, managing test scores, and providing other academic information. The Noble Institute: An organization that works to develop Christian leadership in every area of life through a variety of projects for every season of life. National Black Home Educators Resource Association (NBHE): A national organization which seeks to assist and reach out to the minority homeschooling community. National Challenged Homeschoolers Association Network (NATHHAN): A national organization that helps parents who home school their special needs children. National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA): A national organization that works to promote critical thinking and speaking skills among home school students through speech and debate. Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA): The Home School Foundation is the charitable arm of HSLDA. The Foundation assists HSLDA by supporting HSLDA's legal and non-profit work to defend home schooling families accross the nation. The Home School Foundation has given assistance to over 100 local, state, and national homeschool organizations in over 35 states.
